Clear View Project has been actively supporting the nonviolent Civil Disobedience Movement in Myanmar since the start of the February 1 military coup. Through our ties with International Network of Engaged Buddhists and sister organization Spirit in Education Movement, along with other trusted friends, to date we have channeled roughly $25,000 US for training and humanitarian aid inside that beleaguered country.
Along with the coup, and its accompanying violence, more than 1000 people including 75 children have been killed by security forces. More than 5000 citizens—including parliamentarians, poets, journalist, doctors, and civil servants—have been imprisoned, incommunicado, and suffering in undocumented ways. On top of this country-wide repression, Covid 19 runs unchecked in Burma. While the military has sequestered oxygen supplies, hospital space, and medical care for its own survival, many thousands of ordinary people have been left to sicken, starve, and die of the virus in their own homes.
Most recently, our partnership in the Burmese Spring Benefit Film Festival raised $40,000 US, which will go directly for medical and humanitarian aid. But we request and value your help of any amount. Clear View takes no administrative fees. Feel free to write me and follow this link to donate by check or Paypal.
